This morning Chesterfield HC hosted an Under 8's festival at St Marys.
In total there were 12 teams (some 60+ kids) playing in some quick-fire (8 mins), small sided games. We were really pleased to welcome teams from Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham, North Notts, & Chapeltown.

The weather was kind to us and we were able to watch the teams in action in t-shirts. Whoever decided to schedule the Under 8s into May was a genius! To my mind, this was exactly how hockey should be for this age group - FUN! (And by fun, I mean not playing in sleet or snow in the cold during December!!!).

For alot of the kids this would have been their first taste of a match situation, and it always amazes me how well they do, and that have actually paid attention during training (when we thought they weren't!).

Thanks to the coaches & managers of all the teams for helping with umpiring and making it all run so smoothly - and most importantly for supporting the players! Thanks to all the attending parents - we will try and arrange some more sunshine for your next visit (no guarantees there - sorry!).

Lastly, thanks to the Chesterfield gang for helping with coaching, organising, umpiring etc - Heather, Gareth, Ewan, Steve & in particular Paul who made this all happen!
